Thank You for the Trust: Delitek Selected as supplier for 24 DT-200MCP waste compactor & baler models for use onboard 12 New 17,000-TEU Vessels

About Delitek

Delitek is a market-leading manufacturer and supplier of complete waste management systems for the maritime and offshore-related industry

We are pleased to confirm that we have received order for 24 units of our DT-200MCP to be installed onboard 12 newbuild 17,000-TEU container vessels currently being constructed by Yangzijiang Shipbuilding. With two units planned per vessel, this project represents not only strong operational confidence in our equipment, but also a clear commitment to responsible waste handling at sea.

A year-end milestone for Delitek

Securing an order of this size – 12 vessels and 24 units – represents an excellent start of a new year with new opportunities. In shipping, projects are complex, timelines are tight, and requirements are non-negotiable. Being selected for a fleet-wide solution like this is a signal that our approach to marine waste management is resonating where it matters most: onboard, in real daily operations.

We want to extend our sincere thankfulness to Hapag-Lloyd for great trust shown with Delitek as preferred supplier for this waste handling scope. Newbuilding projects require equipment that is robust, practical, and easy to integrate – because every system onboard must earn its place through reliability and performance.

Recognizing Hapag-Lloyd’s focus on proper waste handling

Running modern container ships efficiently is one thing – running them efficiently and responsibly is another. Proper onboard waste handling is not just about compliance; it’s about culture, training, routines, and investing in solutions that make it easier for crews to do the right thing every day.

By equipping these new vessels with high-quality compaction and baling systems, Hapag-Lloyd is reinforcing a standard that deserves recognition: waste should be handled correctly, safely, and systematically – without compromise. We’re proud that Delitek equipment will be part of that onboard reality for this new series of large container ships.

Why onboard compaction matters

Every ship generates waste—cardboard, plastics, packaging, operational consumables, and more. The challenge is not simply collecting it, but managing it in a way that supports:

  • Efficient storage and logistics onboard
  • Clean and orderly waste stations
  • Improved segregation routines
  • Reduced volume and fewer handling steps
  • Practical compliance with marine waste handling requirements

Compaction and baling help reduce waste volume significantly, improving safety and housekeeping while making downstream handling at port reception facilities more efficient. In other words: better workflow for the crew, better structure onboard, and better outcomes overall.

DT-200MCP: built for shipboard realities

The DT-200MCP is designed specifically for ship and offshore use, where space is limited, uptime matters, and daily routines must stay simple. A marine waste compactor isn’t just a machine – it’s a tool the crew relies on during busy operations, port calls, and day-to-day life at sea.

This project is a strong example of what we believe in at Delitek: providing equipment that supports good waste practices through practical design, reliable performance, and crew-friendly operation—helping waste handling become a smoother part of shipboard routines rather than a constant friction point.

A special thank you for outstanding support

Large projects happen because people show up, stay sharp, and solve problems together.

We want to highlight Mr. Tim Kutscher at MOE Marine & Offshore Equipment Gmbh, our long-term sales agent and in charge of Hapag Lloyd, for fantastic support throughout the process and for being a strong resource to the shipowner. The shipping industry moves fast, and good support is often the difference between “approved on paper” and “works perfectly onboard.” We truly appreciate the professionalism and dedication.

Looking ahead

We’re excited to deliver on this scope and support the installation and operation of these units as the vessels enter service. To everyone involved – shipyard teams, the shipowner organization, and partners supporting the project—thank you for the trust.

And to the crews who will operate this equipment: our goal is simple- make onboard waste handling cleaner, easier, and more effective, every day.
